Celebrating Community Spirit at the Waltham Forest Faith & Belief Awards 2023
The inaugural Waltham Forest Faith & Belief Awards took place on 28th September 2023 at Fellowship Square, held in partnership with Waltham Forest Borough Council, Waltham Forest Faith Communities Forum, and The Faith & Belief Forum.
The awards ceremony, held on the evening of 28th September 2023, saw community groups awarded and projects recognised, with a chance to meet like-minded people from across the borough, as well as take in some performances.
The Awards recognised the outstanding efforts of local community projects and voluntary initiatives that have made a significant impact on the lives of residents. Across nine categories, the awards celebrate the exceptional work undertaken by these groups in fostering community cohesion and promoting positive change.
This special list is dedicated to celebrating and inspiring the future leaders of the British Muslim community.
Since their inception, both The Aziz Foundation and Emerald Network have championed British Muslim talent, providing platforms that highlight excellence across a wide range of sectors and professions.
In 2019, to mark its 15th anniversary, Emerald Network published the very first Emerald 100 list, showcasing an extraordinary breadth of talent within its community. Now, in honour of its 20th anniversary, Emerald Network is proud to collaborate with The Aziz Foundation to present the Next Generation Edition — a recognition of inspiring Muslims aged 40 or under as of 1 January 2024.
Drawing upon the Aziz Foundation’s vibrant community of past and present scholars, this year’s list reflects the Foundation’s vision: to recognise and celebrate the invaluable contributions Muslims continue to make to the fabric of British society. The final list honours 100 individuals — 50 from The Aziz Foundation and 50 from the Emerald Network.
